Jacob Huereca

Chief Executive Officer

Prior to joining Connections, Jacob was the executive director at New Life Children's Center and has spent the majority of his career working with youth in foster care. Jacob received his undergraduate social work degree from Colorado State University-Pueblo and his master's degree in social work from the University of Texas in Austin. Jacob studied Community and Administrative Leadership with a focus on non-profit management and has a strong passion for organizational science and culture. Jacob recently became an Andeavor Fellow through the San Antonio Area Foundation and is a graduate of the 2020 class of New Braunfels leadership. 

Jacob is a licensed social worker, licensed childcare administrator, and a Trust Based Relationship educator. Jacob has volunteered his time teaching trauma informed care practices in working with children from hard places for many years at Gateway Church in Austin before moving to New Braunfels in 2016. Jacob is the father of six children, has been a foster parent twice, and has two adopted children. Jacob is originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, but considers Texas home! He loves his faith, to fish, and to get outdoors and to spend time with his family.

Lisa M. Stewart, MBA, CAE
Chief Financial Officer

Lisa has 20+ years in accounting and finance. In 2007, she earned her MBA and in 2018 her CAE certification. Lisa spent the majority of her career in Washington, DC working with nonprofits building strong financial foundations to support causes related to equity in education and higher education. While working in Washington DC, Lisa was awarded the CFO Of The Year for the Greater Washington Area and was recognized by her peers as one of the top 40 trending CFOs in Washington. Lisa moved back home to Texas and in 2019 began her role as CFO with Connections where she focuses on building financial growth for the organization. She currently resides in New Braunfels with her pet family.

Charles Hegstrom
Residential Services Administrator

Charles holds an undergraduate degree in Sociology from KSU and a master's degree in Criminal Justice from WSU. He began working with youth through the Positive Pathways Program (P3) under BBBS for youth involved in the criminal justice system. Prior to Connections, Charles held various positions in residential settings including a group home, residential treatment center, and a detention center. He also provided skills development and parenting courses to youth and their families from Austin to San Antonio. Charles spends his free time with wife Kristina, son Kari, and dogs Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. He enjoys legos, drawing, soccer, and video games.

Megan Dupree
Outreach Administrator

Megan oversees communication, marketing and development. She works with an internal team to cultivate and distribute messaging designed to generate volunteers, donations, and support. Megan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication-Public Relations from Texas State University. Her professional background includes marketing within higher education and state government. Megan lives in New Braunfels with her husband and two daughters.

Rochelle Menchaca
Human Resources Administrator

Rochelle's area of responsibility includes human resources, operations, facilities, and information technology. Rochelle holds a Bachelor of Human Resources from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio. Rochelle brings diverse human resources experience gained from roles within both private and nonprofit organizations and businesses. Rochelle lives in New Braunfels with her husband, Robert.

Elaine Brandon
Community Based Services Administrator

Elaine has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology (Guidance and Counseling) from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Elaine became a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in 1998 and a LPC supervisor in 2006. Elaine works with adolescents that exhibit at-risk behaviors (running away, truancy, substance abuse, and family conflict), have experienced trauma, and are struggling with symptoms of depression, anxiety, psychosis, suicidal ideation/attempts, and self-harm. Her specialized training includes play therapy techniques, trauma and abuse, anger management, conduct disorders, and cognitive behavioral therapy. She has a passion for working with masters level students and LPC-Associates, helping the next generation of counselors as they learn, grow, and reach their future goals.

Stefanie Garcia
Prevention Services Administrator

Stefanie has been with Connections for ten years as a certified prevention specialist. She is responsible for providing oversight to all prevention programs, and is passionate about seeing youth grow academically and in confidence. Stefanie was born and raised in Pleasanton, Texas.
